Contact page and part requests
Xenon's contact page is a request hub. Shoppers choose what they need, such as a part request, a return or tech support, and the form asks for the right details. Links across your store open it with the right choice made and the product filled in.
Set it up
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Pages and open your contact page, or add one.
- Under Theme template, choose contact.
- In the theme editor, choose the page in Theme settings > Stock source > Request page.
The page's title and content show at the top, unless you write a Heading and Text in the Contact form section instead.
Messages go to your store's sender email, set in Settings > Notifications, like any Shopify contact form.
The form
The form asks for a name, email, phone (optional), the request type, a reference and a message. Name, email, request type and message are required.
Contact form section settings:
- Heading and Text under the Form heading: the form's title and the line under it.
- Show reference field: a field for an order, invoice or serial number. Change its wording in Reference field label.
- Guidance: tips shown beside the form (under it on phones), such as what to include with a part request. Color scheme sets the panel's colors.
Request types
Each request type is a Request type block. The page comes with six: RMA, Returns, Part request, Trade-in, Tech support and General question. Rename, reorder, add or remove them.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Label | The type's name in the list. It's sent with the message, so you can sort messages by it. |
| Link handle | A short name for links. With part-request, a link to /pages/contact?type=part-request opens the form with this type chosen. |
| Helper text | One line shown under the list when this type is chosen |
| Guidance | Tips that replace the general guidance when this type is chosen |
Links match loosely: ?type=trade-in, ?type=tradein and ?type=Trade-ins all choose a type with the handle trade-in.
Links that open the form
Add ?type= to a link to your contact page to choose a request type. Two more parts can be added:
&product=shows "Asking about: …" on the form, and sends it with the message.&part=fills in the reference field.
For example: /pages/contact?type=part-request&product=Asus%20battery&part=C41N1901.
Xenon's own links all use your request page and open the part request type:
| Where | What it fills in |
|---|---|
| Ask about this part on sold-out product cards | The product and its part number |
| The link under the stock label on sold-out product pages | The product and its part number |
| Ask us to find it when a search finds nothing | The search |
| The Call to action section, when it has no link of its own | Nothing |
These links ask for part-request. That matches a request type with the link handle part-request, or, when a type has no handle, the label "Part request". If you rename your part request type, give it that link handle.
Contact details
The Contact details section shows a card for each way to reach you. Each card is a block:
| Block | Shows | Falls back to |
|---|---|---|
| Phone | A number shoppers can tap to call | Theme settings > Store details > Phone, then your Shopify store settings |
| An email link | Theme settings > Store details > Email, then your Shopify store settings | |
| A link that opens a chat | Theme settings > Store details > WhatsApp number | |
| Opening hours | Your hours | Theme settings > Store details > Opening hours |
| Address | Your address | Theme settings > Store details > Address, then your Shopify store settings |
| Text | Anything else | — |
Each card has a Heading and an optional Note, such as "Weekdays only". A card with nothing to show, like WhatsApp without a number, stays hidden. Because the cards use your store details, changing them once updates the footer and this page together.
